Exploring Kawasaki's Latest Innovations at EICMA 2024
Highly anticipated, the Z900 by Kawasaki arrived right on time, as only a Japanese train would. Completely redesigned with improved finish quality, the bike remains faithful to the "sugomi" style that made it so popular. The engine is confirmed at 948 cc with 124 horsepower, but the electronics have been updated. The new Z900 introduces a Ride by Wire throttle with multi-map options, including cruise control and four ride modes, one of which is fully customizable. For the first time on the Z900, there’s an inertial measurement unit (IMU) able to manage cornering ABS and traction control, the latter being adjustable and switchable off. A quick-shifter is also included as standard, active from 1,500 rpm. The steel trellis frame has been revised for rigidity, and Kawasaki claims the new suspension setup provides better ground contact. The braking system? Radial Nissin brakes for the standard version, while the SE model features Brembo brakes and an Ohlins rear shock. There are also updates to ergonomics and electronic interface. The new, flatter handlebar promises a slightly more front-loaded riding position. The 5-inch TFT dashboard is completely redesigned, with smartphone connectivity, voice commands, and turn-by-turn navigation. Two seat options are available: a high one at 830 mm and a low one at 810 mm.
