A truly exclusive opportunity to acquire an original CB750 'Sandcast' model. Honda’s biggest gamble was the CB750, the biggest motorcycle the company had ever made up to that point. Fifty years on, its hard to imagine the impact the Honda CB750 had on the motorcycling world when it was unveiled to a stunned public at the Tokyo motorcycle show in October 1968. The CB750 made its United States debut in January 1969 and reached the UK in April 1969. Honda planned on selling only 1,500 CB750s a year, so to keep development costs low, Honda used a sandcast moulding technique—the preferred method for keeping down costs in low-production runs—for the engine cases. However, demand for the CB750 skyrocketed and Honda soon moved from producing 1,500 bikes a year to 1,500 a month! At this point, Honda knew it had a winner and decided to invest in super costly pressure die-cast moulds. After only 7,414 motorcycles, engine no. CB750E-1007414 was the last to leave the factory with a set of sandcast engine cases. To put that total in perspective, such was the demand for this bike that Honda would go on to produce about 445,000 of these first-generation, single-overhead cam CB750s. All later models would become die-cast, mass produced examples. This model with chassis number 1004844 and engine number 1004691 is one of a few remaining rare collectable pieces. An investment that keeps on giving, these original CB750s are increasing in value at an alarming rate. This beautiful example has been imported from California and comes with the all important 1969 G prefix UK registration, V5 and 1 key. All chrome is original Honda. It has a un-stamped HM300 pipes. It has the original wrinkle tank, double cut front mudguard, rolled rear rim, short chain guard, original stubby brake lines, smooth oil filter housing, sandcast gearboxes on the clocks etc All the details are correct. This machine is being sold as a collector’s item, part of a stunning private collection of Vintage and Classic machines that have all been dry stored for several of years and will require recommissioning prior to use.
