The PW50's lightweight 50cc 2-stroke air-cooled engine is designed specifically to suit the needs of new riders. Smooth and responsive, the fully-automatic gearbox brings rider-friendly "twist-and-go" performance – and its uncomplicated technology makes this lightweight mini-bike easy to maintain.
To make sure that parents have total control over the PW50’s performance, there’s a simple throttle limiter mechanism. By adjusting a screw you can reduce or increase throttle movement to match the rider’s experience and ability.
With its low seat height of only 475 mm and a comfortable and relaxed riding position, new riders will feel instantly confident on the PW50. The handlebar layout is similar to a bicycle's, with the back brake operated by the left hand and front brake by the right – making it easy for the youngest beginners. Just twist the throttle and the fun begins!
Weighing just 41kg, the PW50 is the lightest and most compact mini-bike in the Yamaha range. Equipped with grippy 10 inch tyres at the front and rear, and with 60mm front suspension travel and 50mm rear travel, the compact chassis delivers easy and agile handling – making this mini motorcycle the ideal introduction to off-road riding.
Just about every feature has been designed to make the PW50 fun to ride, easy to own and simple to maintain. The fully-enclosed shaft drive system is clean and quiet, which – together with its separate 2-stroke oil tank and low maintenance design – makes this legendary little motorcycle the obvious choice for new riders and their parents.
To make ownership easy and minimise routine maintenance, the PW50 features a separate 2-stroke oil tank mounted behind the front number plate that carries 300 cc of lubricant – enough for multiple tanks of fuel. Its see-through plastic body makes it easy to keep an eye on the level, and this system means that you can use ‘straight’ non-premix fuel in the petrol tank.
Although it weighs only 41kg, this is a tough little motorcycle is designed to deliver many years of fun. Its 3-spoke 10-inch steel wheels are strong and easy to clean – and for plenty of grip, the PW50 runs on chunky 2.5 inch wide off-road tyres.
The PW50 may be the smallest bike in the Yamaha Off Road line-up, but it still comes with all the style and good looks of the larger YZ race bikes. The bodywork is tough and lightweight, and the Icon Blue fuel tank, side panels and fenders feature race-inspired graphics.
When you buy a Yamaha you can be confident that you are getting a premium product with outstanding quality and reliability as standard. The PW50 has been in production for over 40 years, with many being passed down to the next generation of riders.
Check out the exhaust and you can see another example of how Yamaha’s engineers have gone to great lengths to enhance safety and convenience. Featuring a heat shield for added protection, this lightweight pipe is routed close to the engine for extra ground clearance and improved protection.
